curatedshopp.ing is an independent guide to the shops that give a city its character: concept stores, bookshops, ateliers and the occasional hardware store with a cult following. It is for people who travel to see how a place lives, and who would rather bring home one good thing than ten souvenirs.
How an address gets in
Chosen by specialists
Each city has a small desk: designers, retail specialists and communication people who know how a good shop is made, and how it's run.
Visited before it's listed
Every address has been visited, usually more than once. Readers send suggestions; a desk goes and looks before anything appears.
Never paid for
Shops can't buy a place in a guide. If anything is ever sponsored, it will say so plainly.
An open door
A good guide should work for everyone. Where it helps, we note the places that make a city welcoming, as any well-connected local would.
Kept current
Cities change, so the guides do. Every address is checked again each season.
